About Us

The Kellar Institute for Human DisAbilities (KIHd) is an interdisciplinary campus-based organization focusing on improving the lives and productivity of children and adults with disabilities. KIHd combines the resources of the university with local, state, regional, national, public, and private sector agencies and organizations to develop products, services, and programs for persons with disabilities.

The Mason LIFE Program hosted the Direct Support Professionals' Appreciation Event on Thursday, September 10th 2009. Sharon Bulova, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, spoke and presented a plaque to President Merten and Dr. Michael Behrmann, Director of the Helen A. Kellar Institute for Human disAbilities. Dr. Amie Fulcher, College of Education and Human Development, and Dr. Heidi Graff, Mason LIFE Director, presented the certificates to the instructors, resident advisors, and Mason LIFE support personnel. Other guests who attended were: David Broder, Karen Brown, and Barbara Watts with Long-Term Care Coordinating Council (LTCCC) of the Fairfax County Health Department.
